Devotion Vodka, a gluten-free, sugar-free and New Jersey-based flavored vodka company, and Uber, a transportation service, is teaming up on a corporate responsibility program.
Under the program, Jersey Shore — and New York City area — residents who are first-time Uber users will receive one free trip, up to a $30 value, according to a news release.
The program’s purpose is to promote safe and reliable ride homes after a night out, and supports Devotion Vodka’s commitment to promote responsible drinking, the release states.
Uber is described as a mobile app that connects people with upscale, yet affordable, transportation options. One of their models, uberX, is a low-cost, affordable ride-sharing option said to be 60 percent less expensive than a taxi.
“As a growing brand in the spirits marketplace, we share a corporate responsibility to promote the ‘drink responsibly’ message to all of our customers,” says Drew Adelman, CEO of Devotion Vodka, in a prepared statement. “We are committed to doing all we can to mitigate reckless behavior, and a partnership with Uber is a positive step, as we seek to provide adults with a convenient, responsible and real-time option as an alternative to getting behind the wheel after an evening out.”
Sample vehicles include a Toyota Camry, Lincoln Town Car X, and a Chrysler 300. Another new vehicle is called UberBLACK and is described as an upscale sedan option for a stylish ride. Sample vehicles include a Lincoln Town Car, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Cadillac DTS.
“Customers can book rides with a few clicks on their smartphone, and a GPS-equipped vehicle will be at their service in minutes,” the release states. “In fact, once a ride is requested via Uber’s smartphone app, the software will display the car’s location on a map and the customers will know exactly when the Uber driver will arrive.”
According to the release, Devotion Vodka is currently available at national grocery retailers Whole Foods, Wegmans, Kroger, Publix and Albertsons, major restaurant chains Applebee’s, Houlihan’s and Red Robin, and retail stores, restaurants, bars and nightclubs across the United States.
